Direct to Film (DTF) technology allows users to print designs onto specially coated PET film. The film is then coated with adhesive powders, either manually or using an automatic shaker. After these two simple steps, users can either:
- Lightly bake the film to fix the powder and sell the film as a product.
- Press the film directly onto a garment (or other substrates) and sell the final product.
The DTF process offers several advantages over traditional methods:
- Crisp and Well-Defined Edges: No cutting or weeding required.
- Versatility: Works on all color backgrounds and a wide variety of substrates.
- For dark backgrounds, use a DTF system with white ink (W+KCMY). RIP software controls the printer to print KCMY first, then coats it with a white ink background.
- For white backgrounds, only KCMY inks are needed, without white ink or RIP software.
This technology is compatible with various fabrics, including cotton, silk, polyester, and denim, making it suitable for all color backgrounds and materials.
