The Horizon RD-4055 Rotary Die Cutter is designed to meet the growing demand for short-run die-cut production.  Die-cut, crease, perforate, slit, hole-punch, and round corner in a single process for digital and offset printed sheets.

The SmartStacker offers a groundbreaking new way to process your digital B2 print. The new SmartStacker converts a B2 size / 20 x 29 sheets into up to 28 individual cut sheets, with intelligent accumulation and stacking, and end-to-end JDF control. Designed to run in-line with a B2 size Digital Press, the system can also be operated near-line to serve multiple print sources with sheet feeding capability up to 4,500 B2 sheets per hour. The SmartSlitter is an all-in-one smart sheet processing system that can slit, gutter cut, edge trim, cross-cut, perforate, and crease all in one pass. Perforation and creasing can be performed in both horizontal and vertical directions in the same pass. The skip perforation feature can produce T- and L-perfs, that is ideal for coupons, tickets, and business reply cards. The system can deliver multiple-up greeting cards with or without creasing, table tents, invitations, and much more with both matrix and rotary creasing. For accordion-fold applications or perfect-bound books, up and down creasing can also be performed in one pass.

• Easy-to-use touchscreen: The color touch screen features a simple user interface for easy operation including job set-up via barcode.
• Mark registration: Print mark registration adjusts for digital print image shift from sheet to sheet.

ADVANCED FEATURES

1. Strong and Lay-Flat Binding

As the printing industry diversifies, there is growing demand for binding with color sheets. EVA hotmelt glue has difficulty binding coated stock firmly, and does not currently enable acceptable lay-flat binding. However, PUR hotmelt glue can provide adequate binding strength and lay-flat quality for both offset and digital prints.

2. Durable against Temperature

PUR hotmelt glue retains durabilty and flexibility in both high and low temperatures. The temperature resistance for PUR hotmelt glue ranges from –20 to 120 degrees Celsius versus 0 to 60 degrees Celsius for EVA hotmelt glue. This allows PUR bound books to be handled in almost any climate or location.

3. Ecology

PUR adhesive is environmentally friendly, allowing PUR-bound books to be recycled. PUR also has a lower melting point (120 degrees celsius) than EVA for operational energy savings.

4. pXnet System: Automating the bindery with JDF Workflow

The pXnet Bindery Control System can consume JDF data for fully automated set-up, or be used as a central control point to schedule work, send job data, and collect production statistics from networked machines in real-time. pXnet brings effi ciency and value in high-mix / low-volume production environments where frequent job changeovers are needed. 

The Horizon HT-80 is an in-line or off-line three-knife trimmer that produces precise, clean cuts with no rough edges at speeds up to 1,000 cycles per hour. The LCD display console steps the operator through set-up and changeover, and provides continuous updates on system status. The HT-80 will accept a variable lift size up to 2” thick. Changeovers are accomplished in under 10 minutes, without the need for any tools, and all adjustments are external to the knife area for added safety. An advanced interlock system provides enhanced operator safety.

The Horizon HT-80 Three-knife Trimmer is designed for operation in-line with the Horizon BQ-470, SB-07, and SB-09S perfect binders, or for use off-line. The HT-80 allows for trimming of variable thickness books, one after another, for true on demand book production.

• Variable production: It can trim finished books for sizes ranging from 5.5” x 3.9” up to 13.4” x 11.8”, with programmable memory for up to 200 different jobs for instant recall of frequently-run jobs.
• Advanced automation: The HT-80 includes advanced set-up automation through a user-friendly 10.4” color touch-screen control panel. After inputting the untrimmed and finished trim book sizes, automated adjustments include the in-feed, jogging, and knife sections.
• Precision trimming: Precision stepper motors accurately position all guides and clamps to ensure professional quality cutting at speeds up to 1,000 cycles per hour. A uniquely designed servo-motor controlled jogging mechanism helps provide accurate book registration. The swing knife movement ensures sharp and accurate trims, and a silicon spray unit is available to keep the knife clean during operation.

The HT-300 Three-side Trimmer features a fully automated setup with color touchscreen control. The system offers higher productivity, unique corner cut capability, optional flap cover trimming, and it’s automated setup can be barcode driven. The HT-300 is over 35% faster than previous models and can process up to 300 books/stacks per hour (4 books/stack x 300 = 1,200 bph). This three-side trimmer can be easily run in-line with the BQ-270V and BQ-480 perfect binders for seamless book production.

• Automatic adjustments: The HT-300 uses a servo motor press plate which allows for the auto calibration of the press height along with automatic pressure adjustment.
• Fixed position cutting station: This trimmer features heavy-duty construction and increased book trimming control.
• Status indicators: Customizable color-coded, interior LED lights tell operators the machine status at a glance.
• Trim removal: The HT-300 features increased trim air supply and control with the ability to customize timing and pressure, as well as efficient push removal for small trim.
• iCE-LiNK: The HT-300 comes standard with iCE-LiNK, Horizon’s next generation pXnet, JDF workflow and job-management tool.
• Flexible configuration: With multiple options for feeders, stackers, or conveyors, the HT-300 can be configured depending on your unique needs.

User-friendly operation by color touchscreen and wireless remote control –A large color touchscreen is icon-based for user-friendly operation. The graphical screen guides the user through all set-up procedures with ease. Frequently operated buttons are arranged on a wireless remote control, which is included as standard. The remote provides for collating speed adjustment and start/stop/jog operation, and lets you monitor the feeding or delivering condition.

Reliable sensing capability – Double feed detect sensor.  High-intensity infrared LED’s are employed at each bin for double feed detection. These long-lasting LED’s save the time and cost of replacing individual lamps.

Combined with the StitchLiner Mark III Saddlestitcher or the SPF 200L Bookletmaker, the system is capable of producing A4 landscape booklets, large format calendars, and more with ease and efficiency.
